The USA says it wants a just and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Or, at least, that it wants some sort of negotiated peace.

Many people, and I am certainly one of them, have complained that the USA finds that, due to internal political considerations, the USA can do no more to advance this policy via-a-vis Israeli/Palestinian peace than occasionally to say, “Tsk, tsk,” to Israel. In this regard, see Curing World Disappointment with Israel and Going Back to Basics.

(Perhaps the USA merely desires the Palestinians to cave-in utterly and sign a capitulatory treaty with Israel. But in that case, why say, “Tsk, tsk,” to Israel, which is doing a fine job of inducing Palestinian capitulation?)

Moreover, the USA does not limit its efforts toward peace to saying, “Tsk, tsk,” to Israel. Indeed not! It also applies pressure on all the rest of the world to prevent any other country from doing more (to aid the USA achieve its own expressed goals in this matter) than also to say, “Tsk, tsk,” to Israel.

It must be clear to all that if the USA used as much pressure to persuade Israel (as it does to protect Israel from the persuasion of others), we might well have a just and lasting peace today.

It is a poigniant fact that the USA, which has for over 65 or more years used vast sums of money (spent usually by the CIA but lately spent directly by the USA’s armed forces) to overturn or control governments all around the world, the USA I say, is itself controlled—as the smallest of the so-called Banana Republics have traditionally been controlled by the USA !— by the expenditure of relatively small sums of money in respect to its actions via-a-vis Israel.

Surely it is an admirable fact (for we are brought up to admire efficiency!) that the greatest power in the world (the USA) is controlled (in regard to its Israel/Palestine policy) by the expenditure of, really, such a small amount of money!

Does the tail wag the dog?

And who controls the expenditure of that rather small amount of money? Who is “the tail”? Who knows? Some say the money is controlled by Israeli right-wingers. Some say by the USA’s own corporate military provisioners. Some say by “The Lobby.”

What an amazing circus is mankind!
