Egypt has just completed the world’s first FACEBOOK REVOLUTION. I hope the next chapter works out as well as the first chapter did. Egyptians only defeated a military dictator. Now they face the combined forces of Darth Vader (the USA, UK, EU, the international corporations, Davos, etc.).
The USA must be next.
What I have in mind is a very focused campaign, also a Facebook Revolution, aimed at getting 1,000,000 Americans to petition President Obama, asking him not to veto the Palestinian draft UNSC resolution seeking, once again, and after so many other and similar UNSC resolutions (most notably UNSC 465 (1980)) which declare the settlements illegal and even (as 465 does) demand that Israel remove the settlers and dismantle the settlements.
There is a petition that seeks a paltry 10,000 signatures requesting President Obama not to veto the Palestinian draft resolution.
But 10,000 is nothing. The Egyptians have shown us 1,000,000 people in Tahrir Square. Our petition should seek 1,000,000 signatures.
And we (oh!, so modern Americans) should take a lesson from Wael Ghonim and his friends and use modern facebook technology to bring this American Revolution from an idea to a reality.
How many Arab-Americans are there? How many progressive Jews? How many lawyers? How many students? How many people who believe in the Rule of Law or who oppose the USA’s military empire and cruel and wasteful wars.
I write to you who am an old fogy. I do not have a Facebook account. I don’t know how to do this. But I am sure it must be done.
