American Democracy for sale? Really?
The so-called “1%”—if limited to the 196 individual donors who have provided nearly 80% of the money raised by super PACs in 2011 by giving $100,000 or more each—are really the “0.0000063%”.

At link to tomdispatch we read: At a time when it’s become a cliché to say that Occupy Wall Street has changed the nation’s political conversation—drawing long overdue attention to the struggles of the 99%—electoral politics and the 2012 presidential election have become almost exclusively defined by the 1%. Or, to be more precise, the .0000063%. Those are the 196 individual donors who have provided nearly 80% of the money raised by super PACs in 2011 by giving $100,000 or more each.
Imagine how different the USA’s electoral system might be if corporations were not allowed to spend ANY money for political action, including electoral action, and if each human being—including the very rich and including candidates themselves—were limited to an annual cap of, say, $1,000 for ALL political spending, cumulatively.
My proposal has many problems, but read it anyhow. Go ahead!
